Bologna ranks 42nd in the world and 26th in Europe, according to the latest UIA report
June 25, 2025

Bologna is confirmed as a leader in international conference tourism, solidifying its position in the world's top 50 and Europe's top 30 for the organization of association events in 2024, as sanctioned by the latest UIA report.
An Accurate Look at the MICE Sector
The International Meetings Statistics Report by UIA (Union of International Associations), compiled annually since 1960, analyzes international meetings held worldwide. Unlike other rankings, the UIA includes a wider range of gatherings: from congresses and conventions to assemblies and symposia, as well as events organized by intergovernmental organizations or those with fewer than 50 participants, thus offering a comprehensive and inclusive overview of the sector. It is important to note that the data are continuously evolving and are updated over time with the addition of new associations.
Excellent Results for Bologna and Italy
In the 66th edition of the report, which refers to 2024, Bologna secured the 42nd position globally and the 26th in Europe, with a total of 38 meetings. This is an excellent result, placing it just above cities like Porto, Luxembourg, Warsaw, and Edinburgh, and confirming it as the fourth Italian city in the ranking. The success is also significant at a national level: Italy is positioned as the third country in the world, with 452 meetings, behind only the United States and Belgium, and the second in Europe.
This remarkable positioning, for both Bologna and Italy, is the result of increasingly effective coordination efforts and the growing appeal of our country for international meetings. The milestone achieved by Bologna testifies to the city's role as a reference point in the sector, solidifying its reputation as a premier MICE destination.
