The European Federation of Sexology chooses Bologna for its annual congress

From May 23 to 25, Royal Hotel Carlton hosted more than 480 professionals from more than 40 countries around the world for the 17th Congress of the European Federation of Sexology, entitled “Sexuality in Health and Illness: Sexual Health, Rights and Well-Being.”

The event, organized by Artion, is hosted in a different city in Europe each year and it returned to Italy this year after a full 20 years since the last time. Bologna was chosen for its renowned academic merit, as well as for its easy accessibility and the attractiveness of the destination, including food, motors and its fascinating medieval historic center.

The Congress was an extraordinary opportunity for professionals involved in sexology in Europe to meet and for interdisciplinary scientific exchange to deepen their understanding of sexual and lifelong well-being. Physicians from all specialties including gynecology, oncology, urology, psychiatry, endocrinology, plastic surgery, and general medicine were involved, as well as other professionals such as journalists, nurses, pharmacists, philosophers, psychologists, psychotherapists, and teachers.

In addition to the many useful sessions and panels, participants had the opportunity to forge relationships and share experiences during Thursday evening's Welcome Reception at the Royal Hotel Carlton and Friday's Congress Dinner at Cantina Bentivoglio.

Many thanks to Mehmet Sungur, President of the European Federation of Sexology, Valentini Amarantidou, Director of Development of Artion, and Maria Cristina Florini, President of the Italian Center for Sexology, for taking a moment to tell us about this year's edition of the international congress and their impression of Bologna as a congress destination.
