February 2, 2026
2025 Closes with a historic result for Bologna Airport Guglielmo Marconi: for the first time in its history, the airport has surpassed 11 million annual passengers, confirming its strategic role in both the national and international aviation landscape.
A Record-Breaking Year
In 2025, the airport welcomed 11,126,959 passengers, exceeding the one-million-passenger-per-month mark for seven consecutive months, from April to October. This milestone was made possible by growth in traffic during traditionally quieter months, outside the peak summer period.
Overall, passenger traffic increased by 3.4% compared to 2024, with more than 360,000 additional passengers over the year.
Looking at the data in detail, domestic flights carried 2,720,304 passengers in 2025, up 2.4% from the previous year, while international flights totaled 8,406,655 passengers, marking a 3.7% increase compared to 2024.

Among the most popular destinations in 2025 were Catania, Tirana and Barcelona, which took the top three spots.
Looking Ahead
The 2025 results confirm Bologna Airport’s steady growth trajectory, reflecting its status as an increasingly international and attractive destination.
Classified as a “strategic airport” for the Central-Northern area under the National Airport Plan by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Bologna Airport now ranks among the top 10 Italian airports by passenger numbers, according to Assaeroporti.
The airport is now looking to the future with a development plan focused on expanding the passenger terminal, particularly in security and boarding areas, to strengthen Bologna Airport’s role as the main gateway to the region.
