Palazzo Boncompagni
1 Meeting Rooms
Palazzo Boncompagni is located in the heart of the historic city center, just a few hundred meters from Piazza Maggiore and the Two Towers. The palace, birthplace of Pope Gregory XIII, stands out for its 16th-century façade and its grand decorated portal.
The design of the original core of the palace is attributed to the Sienese architect Baldassarre Tommaso Peruzzi (1481–1536). However, according to many scholars, its completion and decorative elements—both interior and exterior—should be credited to Jacopo Barozzi da Vignola (1507–1573). A distinctive hallmark of this great Renaissance architect is the spiral staircase, which forms the architectural centerpiece of the palace.
Inside, the extraordinary “Sala del Papa” unfolds, adorned with a pietra serena fireplace, probably designed by Pellegrino Tibaldi.
